Contact Lens Exams
Contact lens exams and fittings, including follow-up visits to make sure the lenses stay comfortable and healthy for your eyes.
A contact lens exam measures your eyes for lenses and checks that the lenses fit well and keep your eyes healthy. It is for new wearers and for anyone who wants to renew or change their lenses.

How it differs from a glasses exam
A contact lens sits on the eye, so we measure the surface of the eye and check how the lens moves and fits. A contact lens prescription is separate from a glasses prescription.
First-time wearers
We show you how to put lenses in, take them out and care for them, and we check in with you after you have worn them for a while.
Disposable lenses
We carry many brands of disposable contact lenses to fit your eyes and your routine.
Sleeping in contacts
Unless your lenses are made for it, don’t sleep in them. In Dr. Olteanu’s words: “You can get an ulcer, or a fungal infection brewing underneath the contact lens that can lead to an advanced ulcer that eats away at the cornea. Then I have to send you to the emergency room.”
How to prepare
If you already wear contacts, wear them to the visit and bring the box or the lens details.
Questions
Do I need a separate exam for contact lenses?
Yes. Fitting contact lenses needs extra measurements and a check of how the lens sits on your eye.
General information, not a diagnosis. Your doctor will advise you at your visit.
